Your Responsibilities

As a special education teacher, you are responsible for the special educational work and the work surrounding students in need of special support. In your work, you are expected to contribute to discovering and mapping the student’s support needs and ensuring that the methods used are research-based and evaluable to the greatest extent possible. Your task is to ensure good quality in investigative mapping and current support, as well as the establishment of action programs regarding this. You will collaborate with other teachers around individual students' needs for adjustments.

As a special education teacher, you have an important role in supporting the work with students at risk of not reaching the nationally set goals. You work on this both through classroom teaching and individual instruction. You also contribute with material for pedagogical investigations and write action programs.

At Ekholm School, we have a resource school for youth with autism diagnoses, and part of your assignment includes supporting their knowledge development.

Your Workplace

Ekholm School is a middle school in the southern parts of Linköping. The school has about 400 students and also includes a resource school. We also share a building with an adapted primary school for middle school students. The school has a full student health team and about 60 colleagues working to help our youth reach their educational goals and feel good along the way. As a special education teacher, you work together with others in our special education teacher group and also have the opportunity to consult colleagues in the student health team. In Linköping Municipality, there is also access to guidance teams in psychiatry, speech therapy, and other competencies that you can receive support from if needed.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license and a special education teacher degree with a focus on Swedish, reading, and writing development, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You have previous work experience in the pedagogical work that the teaching assignment entails.

You have good communicative skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is to ensure that you, according to the curriculum, organize and carry out the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development.

You have a positive attitude and bring enthusiasm and energy to the work. You have a good ability to create participation in the activities and can create and maintain relationships in the workplace. You have good insight into how people absorb knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying messages to others. You communicate clearly. You are confident in yourself and see relationships in their proper perspective. Furthermore, you take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward.
